Taylor Swift Updates ‘Reputation’ Lyrics During Eras Doc Premiere
Fans Spot Subtle Changes in Familiar Songs
Taylor Swift sparked fresh excitement among fans after listeners noticed quiet lyric changes in two songs from her 2017 album Reputation. On the night the first episodes of her Eras tour documentary premiered, Swifties reported altered lines in “Delicate” and “I Did Something Bad,” prompting widespread discussion online.
What Changed in “Delicate” and “I Did Something Bad”
In “Delicate,” a track centered on navigating a fragile new relationship, one line was slightly revised. The original lyric, “Oh damn never seen that color blue,” appears as “Goddamn never seen that color blue” in the updated version. While minor, the change was immediately noticeable to longtime listeners.
“I Did Something Bad” features a more pronounced shift. The earlier lyric, “And if he spends my change, then he had it comin,” has been replaced with “And if he calls me a bitch then he had it comin,” adding sharper language to the song’s message about reclaiming power and reputation.
Dolby Atmos Release Fuels Speculation
The modified lyrics appear in Reputation tracks released with Dolby Atmos sound, a format designed to create a more immersive listening experience. Apple Music rolled out these Atmos versions on Dec. 12, aligning with the debut of Swift’s Eras tour documentary episodes.
Reputation’s Unique Place in Swift’s Catalog
The timing also reignited interest in the future of Reputation. Swift previously explained that the album is emotionally tied to a specific chapter of her life, making it difficult to revisit. Although she has re-recorded several early albums, she shared in a 2025 letter to fans that Reputation remains unfinished and uniquely challenging.
With these subtle updates, fans are once again watching closely for clues about what comes next.
